She Who Weeps

This mixed-media installation updates a previous carved-wood female figure, responding to ancient bird shrines and bringing out content for today’s climate crisis. In addition to a woman and small children, this cabinet of curiosities holds inside it treasures from nature like feathers, nests, shells, and stones. Outside, it’s surrounded by brambles, black birds, and a tangle of watery cloth, asphalt, and plastic mesh.
